From Harry Potter Page to Screen (pg 27). From an early photograph of Emma Watson in character as Hermione. 2.5 x 3.5 inches

My latest commission. Graphite, ink, conte. 8 x 10 inches.

Last year in 2011 I successfully reached my goal of reading 50 books. This year my new reading related goal is to read all of the art books I’ve collected over the years. This includes everything from The Complete Paintings and Drawings of Leonardo da Vinci, to Sargent, Monet, Victorian Women Artists, even the art of Harry Potter.

I also want to draw more, so I’ve come up with the idea of drawing a “master copy” from at least one image in each book. So far I’ve already finished reading Harry Potter Page to Screen and a few drawings, including this drawing based off of Stuart Craig’s first drawing of Hogwarts. I really look forward to this project and will continue updating my progress.

A commissioned drawing. Graphite, charchoal, chalk pastel. 2011

I really don’t understand why whoever made this image cut out so much of John Lennon’s neck. I mean, how’s he supposed to breath or eat now?
